CyberMedia opens its St Stephens' program to all students of Delhi University
17 August 2005
The School for Media Studies set up by the CyberMedia Group at St Stephens is now open to undergraduate students enrolled in various colleges of Delhi University.

Although the media industry is one of the fastest growing sectors the world over, professional education and training in content creation, journalism and film production/direction has not come of age. However, recognizing the need for skilled media professionals and practitioners, the CyberMedia Group set up the School of Convergence in association with Kaleidoscope Entertainment in 2001.

Following the popularity of the course, CyberMedia set up the School for Media Studies at St. Stephens College. The School for Media Studies is the second educational institution run by the School of Convergence, set up by Cyber Media Foundation Limited (CMFL), a joint venture between the Cyber Media group and Kaleidoscope Entertainment. The School of Convergence established the first institution in 2001 at the International Management Institute, New Delhi.

Although, in the first year of its existence, the School for Media Studies (SMS) admitted only students who had already enrolled themselves at St. Stephen's College today, undergraduate students enrolled in various colleges of Delhi University are eligible to join the course.

About the Course

The course aims at providing an integrated programme to equip students with basic and essential skills that tomorrow's media professionals must possess. Entwining theory and practical training, the course combines the curricula of print, radio, television, film theory and new media. Eminent media personalities interact with the students frequently and share their knowledge and experiences. Opportunities for hands-on training in reporting, editing and production in print and television media are provided through internships. The students are trained for developing skills in photography, acoustics and visual design. Spanning a period of seven months, classes are conducted at St. Stephens for two hours in the afternoon at least thrice a week. The second certificate course in media studies will commence in July 2004.

Today, some of the ex-students of the School for Media Studies are working with Zee News, Channel [V], Business Today, NDTV, Elite Model Management India, EFX and other reputed organisations.
