PCQuest announces India’s Best IT Implementations of 2006
Indian Railways, ICICI Bank, Reliance, SBI, Food Grains Corporation, among the winners

PCQuest, Asia’s most influential IT publication has announced the prestigious Best IT Implementation Awards for the year 2006. This time, there were more than 152 projects nominated from across the country across 25 industry verticals, showcasing the widespread business impact of IT on all sectors. Nominations were received not only from the metro cities but also from B cities and the industry verticals ranged from BFSI, manufacturing, petroleum and services to fashion design.

After the nationwide audit of the projects nominated, the eminent 5-member jury made the following awards.

  • Overall Best Project:
    Indian Railways Freight Operations Management system by CRIS
  • Maximum Social Impact:
    Integrated Information System for Food Grains Management for Food Grains Corporation of India by NIC
  • Maximum Business Impact:
    Reliance Industries e-Commerce B2B Portal for Petroleum Products

    Shamrao Vithal Cooperative Bank’s Genius Core Banking system
  • Most Innovative:
    ICICI Bank’s Mail Attachment Stripping        
                                &

    Mahindra & Mahindra’s Corporate Personnel Movement tracking system
  • Most Challenging Implementation:
    State Bank of India’s SBI Connect

Shyam Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief, PCQuest commented, “India is a global power for Implementing IT for others. Now we are doing world class IT implementations for our businesses as well. These are the only awards, which recognize and appreciate the work done for Indian enterprises in IT. The Best IT Implementations create benchmarks of excellence and an idea bank that others can tap into, in building a new India.”

The winners for these awards were determined through a four-stage process. The first stage was a public nomination process. During the second stage the PCQuest team audited and shortlisted these projects. This was followed by a detailed audit of these shortlisted projects in the third stage. The last stage involved an awards panel that decides the final winners. This comprised of eminent personalities drawn from the IT industry as well as the user community.

The jury for deciding the winners was chaired by Satish Naralkar, MD and CEO, NSE.IT. The jury members comprised of industry stalwarts such as Alok Ohrie, Director, Systems and Technology Group, India/South Asia, IBM, Director Systems  of IBM, Sunil Kapoor, CIO of Fortis Healthcare, Pradeep Gupta, Managing Director CyberMedia, and Shyam Malhotra, Editor in Chief of PCQuest.
